Watching Summer
The blueberries kicked off the growing excitement for this summer. I am fascinated by the cycles of plants and learning always how to keep plants healthy. There is some jealousy as I watch how to videos of other gardeners expertise but also remind myself that it's not a competition. But maybe in the future...nah. I do have nine blueberry plants growing on our deck and just watching them grow, studying them really, making a list in my mind how to have a better crop for next season and where to plant in our yard if ever. From reading up on deer, they love blueberries, and there are lots here. So what's to deter them? Will those strong scented flowers and prickly plants sway their appetites, or a sparkly, dangle CD windmill scare them enough? Full of antioxidants is good enough to try growing at home because they really are kind of pricey at the grocery store. The birds really do find a way to eat them all, if you have a beginning crop that is. I'm sure it's not so bad ...
